Alice Ray Cox

Funeral services for Alice Ray Cox, 93, of Thomasville will be Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Meigs Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Norman and Rev. Jerry Lancaster will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Mrs. Cox was a former resident of Meigs, having resided in Thomasville for the past 4 years. Born March 5, 1917 in Colquitt Co., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Ray and Mary Cooper. On December 24, 1934 in Camilla, Ga, she was married to the late Henry Carl Cox. She was retired from Coats & Clark and was a member of Meigs Baptist Church. Mrs. Cox is survived by 2 daughters, Betty Dean of Barwick, GA and Nettie Jewell Graben of Odenville, Al and a son and daughter in law Carlese and Naomi Cox of Thomasville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jerry and Sandy Handley, Teresa and Larry Tomlinson, Linda West, John Handley, Carlene Caldwell, Michelle Young, Scott and Missy Cox, Barney Carl Hardin, Alice Ann and Mark Thornton, Joy Kidd and Greg Hand, 17 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Lester Ray of Ochlocknee and an sister Eavy Doris Lee of North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Saturday February 26 at Allen & Allen.
