Services for BettyLu Price Bracey, 86, of Thomasville, are at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Mike Huling and the Rev. Bob Dixon will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery on Louisiana Street. Mrs. Bracey died Oct. 1, at her residence. Pallbearers are Mose Bracey, Tony Bracey, Cole Bracey, Will Wise, John Adam Wise and Josh Garrett. Born on Dec. 25, 1923, in Gulfport, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Louise Guice Price. Shortly after birth she moved to Gadsden, Ala. As a student at the University of Alabama she met Richard M. Bracey. On Aug. 10, 1943 she married Mr. Bracey, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority, Garden Club, Jr. Service League, Bridge Club, Red Hat Society, Cultural Center, Friends of the Library, Landmarks and Plaza Breakfast Club. She was reported to be the first female chairman of Thomas County Republican Party. Mrs. Bracey loved reading extensively, traveling when opportunities arose, and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jeanie Bracey; daughter and son-in-law, Lise and Bob Lingle; six grandchildren, Mose Bracey and wife Celeste, Tony Bracey, Mary Price Bracey, Cole Bracey, Alice Lingle Garrett and husband Josh, and Charli Lingle; one great-grandson, Rick Bracey; and her dog, Precious. Also, BettyLu had an abundance of friends and relatives, whom, along with those that preceded her, provided her with an immensely fulfilled life of love, happiness, and memories. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Price; and her sister, Frances Price Smith. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 975, Thomasville, Ga. 31799 or to the Thomas County Public Library, 201 N. Madison Street, Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
