Constance Elizabeth Balfour Jones

A memorial service for Constance Elizabeth Balfour Jones will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at All Saints' Episcopal Church in
Thomasville. Mrs. Jones, age 95, died peacefully on July 25, 2014. Born on January 29,1919 in Thomasville, Ga., she was the daughter of Robert C. Balfour, Jr. and Deborah McCrea Balfour. She attended Thomasville High School and graduated from the University of Georgia. While at UGA she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and met her future husband, Bolling Jones, Ill. They were married in May of 1944 and lived in Atlanta, Ga. for several years. In 1948 they returned to Thomasville when Bolling became President of Georgia Crate & Basket Co.

Connie was a very active member of the community and a Director and Vice President of Balfour Land Co. for many years. She was instrumental in starting the "Pink Ladies" as part of the Archbold Hospital Auxillary. She later served as trustee of Archbold Foundation from 1987 to 2002. She was a member of Thomasville Landmarks and a board member of the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation. She was in the Thomasville Garden Club and an avid
gardener. She was a strong supporter of Birdsong and a devoted bird watcher. She was active in many sports including tennis, shooting, and
fishing. She was a member of St. Thomas and All Saints' Episcopal Churches.

She is survived by her children Connie and Bill Floyd of Atlanta, Ga., Dorothy and George Wrigley of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Bo and Kathy Jones of Thomasville, Ga., and Mike and Tracy Jones, of Thomasville, Ga.; Her grandchildren Bill and Rey Floyd, Blair and Ben Sleiman, Kendall Wrigley, Katherine and Brian Gorski, Bo and Nicole Jones, Morgan and Kevin Plosser, and Maizie Jones. Her great­ grandchildren, Emma Sleiman, Chase Floyd, and Grayson Sleiman. She is also survived by her brother R.C. Balfour, Jr. and sister-in-law Virginia Balfour.

There will be a gathering for family and friends in the Parish Hall immediately following the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Archbold Foundation, Steyerman House, 910 South Broad Street, Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
