Memorial services for Douglas Mead Barnes, 72, of Thomasville, are at 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Thomasville. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor and Rev. Bob Dixon will officiate. Mr. Barnes died March 13, 2009 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Dec 5, 1936, in Union City, PA he was the son of the late Alpheus and Ruby Pearl Bush Barnes. He was married to Janet Comstock Litherland Barnes who survives him. Other survivors include his son, Eric Douglas Barnes and wife of Trinity, FL; daughter, Amy Ileene Barnes Mills and husband of Brandon, FL; step sons, Mark Lee Litherland and wife of Atlanta, GA, Steven Daniel Litherland and wife of Tallahassee, FL; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha, Gabriella, Kayla, Krysta, Tyler, Austin, Daniel, Miranda and Carrie; Brothers, Herbert Burns of Michigan and Gary Barnes of Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680 North Canton, OH 44720 and the American Cancer Society, Inc., P.O. Box 1201 Albany, GA 31702.
