Elizabeth Kennedy Pitts, 72, of Thomasville, died Thursday, February 5, 2004. Born and raised in Cairo, Georgia, Mrs. Pitts attended Wesleyan College and the University of Georgia. After residing in the metropolitan Boston area for many years, she relocated to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she became an active member of St. Luke?s Episcopal Church. Mrs. Pitts was instrumental in helping establish a chapter of the Daughters of the King there, and she generously gave of her time in volunteering for many other worthy causes. Upon moving to Thomasville, she embraced the fellowship of Kindred spirits at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Mrs. Pitts?s devotion to her family and faith and a spirited sense of fun were the animating forces that distinguished her life. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Mrs. Pitts is survived by three sons, Francis D. ?Jim? Pitts of Lexington, Kentucky; Jason James Kennedy Pitts, of North Sutton, New Hampshire; Peter Todd of Boston, Massachusetts; two daughters-in-law, Laura Meinhardi Pitts of Lexington, Kentucky; Ann Montgomery Pitts of North Sutton, New Hampshire; and two grandsons, Parker Montgomery Pitts and Bennett Kennedy Pitts of North Sutton, New Hampshire. Donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Pitts to the St. Thomas Retor?s Fund.
