Mr. Hayward Randy Carter, 79, of Panama City, FL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2024. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
Randy was born on February 28, 1945, in Thomasville, GA and graduated from Thomasville High School in 1964. He was an owner of several businesses including his beloved stores Jax Foods Center and Remington Pawn Shop.
He is preceded in death by his Father, James Nathan Carter Sr., and his Mother, Hazel Bond Carter; Brother, James (Jimmy) Nathan Carter Jr.; Sisters; Judy Mattox and Nancy Smith.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Lynn Smith and Hayward Buck Carter Jr.; Son-in-law, Kenneth Michael Smith; Grandchildren, Taylor Michael Smith and wife Elizabeth Smith, Victoria Nicola Belk and husband Austin Belk; several nieces and nephews, Nat Carter, Donna Carter, Natalie Dunaway, Susan Carter, Jay Smith, Lisa Mattox, Missy Mattox; his best friend Bobbie Carter; Brother-in-laws, Jimmy Smith and John Mattox.
Randy had many beloved hobbies including reading, music, and singing. He had a vast knowledge of American history and was a life-long member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) , being an avid gun and knife collector. Peers who know and love Randy will know he is in Heaven now rocking in his chair polishing his knives. He was an example of a great man, beloved father, grandfather, and friend. From the exterior he appeared strong and tough, but inside his empathy and kindness showed the path to his big heart.
Services to honor Randy's life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home's Celebration of Life Chapel at 11 am.
