Hopesy Iris Harvey Burklow of Thomasville passed away on April 9, 2020 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burklow was raised in Coolidge, Ga. and was a member of Coolidge Baptist Church and was a graduate of Coolidge High School where she was a cheerleader. She then graduated from the Women's Business School, Moultrie Georgia which was located above the Library at the time. After graduation, she was employed as a Secretary for the Colquitt County Extension Agent Office, in Moultrie, Georgia. She met Paul W. Burklow, who was serving in the United States Air Force, in Moultrie and was married in June 1956 at the Spence Field Chapel. She then became a Military spouse and homemaker, traveling the country. They were married 63 years and had three beautiful children. When Paul retired in 1974, they moved back to Georgia. She continued working as a Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Lady) for over 20 years and was a nursery Sunday school teacher for over 20 years at First Baptist Church in Thomasville. She is survived by her husband Paul W. Burklow of Thomasville; children Karen and (David) Murray - Georgia, Kerry and (Patty) Burklow -Texas, Kristi and (Henry) Williams- Georgia; grandchildren James and (Beverly) Williams- Georgia, David and (Sarah) Murray- Georgia; great grandchildren Jurnee M. Williams and Diesel L. Williams; and a host of cousins and nephews and nieces and her beloved dog Tiny. She was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe P. Harvey and Helen Geneva Ellington Harvey; sister Nita Hulaine Searcy; grandson Robert Mathew Burklow. Her family will have a private service at a later date.
