Services for Littie Juanita (Nita) Thomas Palmer, 82 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Marty Carnes and Rev. Reid Wylie will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Palmer passed away February 6, 2017 at her residence. Born March 24, 1934 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Ashley L. (Dock) Thomas and Littie Mae Carter Thomas. She was married to Gordon L. Palmer, Jr. on July 1, 1950 in Thomasville, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville and was a retired bookkeeper working many years for Sing Oil Company, Gordon Palmer Construction Company and Bracey Lumber Company. Her favorite pastime was showing her love with her baking, cooking and making divinity to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening, she was an avid bowler and served in many capacities as officer and board member for the Ladies Bowling Association for many years. She is survived by son, Gordon (Gordy) Lowe Palmer, III and his wife Virginia (Ginger) Keyton Palmer of Thomasville; daughter, Connie Lynne Palmer McElreath of Thomasville; grandchildren, Matthew Grey McElreath and wife Kelli, Ryan Thomas McElreath and wife Lauren, Erica Leigh Palmer and Brian Lowe Palmer and wife Liz; great-grandchildren, Caden Bryce Palmer, Jude Oliver Palmer, Luke Thomas McElreath and Ayden Miles Ward; sisters, Evelyn Thomas Mills and husband James H. Mills of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Hazel Thomas Fielding and husband Charles T. Fielding of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Betty J. Palmer Shackleford and Betty Jo Scoggins Palmer both of Thomasville and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Eunice Thomas Adams, Helen Thomas Parker and Joyce Thomas Causey. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM.
