Marguerite Miller Lewis

Marguerite Miller Lewis passed away gracefully at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville, Georgia the evening of February 16, 2015 at the age of 85. She was born in Cairo, Georgia on April 16, 1929 to the late Eugene Miller and the late Pearlie Mae Pyles and was the step daughter of the late Josephine Miller. Mrs. Lewis married the love of her life in 1947 to the late John Lewis and was married for 51 years before his death in 1998. Mrs. Lewis loved her family, faith, and golf, (in that order). She was an avid cook until the very last weeks of her life. She was employed with Commercial Bank for 35 years. She was an active member of Dawson Street Baptist Church for many years and taught Sunday school from the nursery up thru Senior Citizens classes. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the WMU and Ruth Sunday School. Also, she was a past member of the Cairo Country Club. She is survived by her sisters, Betty Clark of Cairo, Susan Chastain (Mike) of Cairo. Niece, Phyllis Nichols (Bill) of Boerne, Texas, Nephews, Phillip Clark (Jill) of Cairo, Daniel Chastain (Casey) of Cairo, Great Niece, Chelsa Clark of Cairo. And an Aunt, Ruby Horne of Cairo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dawson Street Baptist Church 1025 N. Dawson St Thomasville Ga 31792. Services will be Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Dawson Street Baptist Church. The Reverend Lee Waller will officiate. Immediately after the church service, the family will visit with family and friends. The family will have a private interment service at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
