A celebration of the life of Martha Long, 77, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 7th, 2018, at New Covenant Church, Thomasville, Ga., with Pastor Dave Allen and Pastor Danny Murphy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Midway Baptist Church cemetery in Meigs, GA. Mrs. Long went home to be with the Lord on July 4th, 2018, at Archbold Memorial Hospital with her loving family surrounding her. Born September 8th, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Owen Huckeba and the late Irene Watson. Her family moved to the Coolidge area in 1941. She graduated from Coolidge High School in 1958 and was crowned Miss Coolidge that same year. Following high school, she attended business classes at Athens Business College. On October 21st, 1961 in Coolidge, GA she married Jimmy Long. Mrs. Long had a passion for traveling, and an adventurous spirit. She and her husband lived in Guam and Korea for part of their married life and the couple served on the mission field as a missions relief team in Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras and Cambodia. She took many trips including her dream trip to Israel, as a part of her 50th Anniversary wedding celebration. Mrs. Long had a true love for people, and it was important to her for her home to feel welcome and warm for any and all. She was filled with the love of God and shared that warmth and love to all she came in contact. Her family had a very special place in her heart, and she loved them very much. Mrs. Long was a member of Destiny Worship Center in Moultrie, Georgia. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Long of Ochlocknee; children, Tracy (Kristin) Long, Scott (Holly) Long, grandchildren, Melissa (Sean) Miller, Sam Long and fiancé Abby Hurst, Gammon (Jennifer) Long, Kaitlynn Long; great-grandchildren, Owen Miller, Lasyn Long; sister, Ivanell Flowers; nieces and nephews, Ellen (Clint) Cunningham, Carla (Mike) Hill, Don (Velita) Flowers, Teresa (Alfred) Carver, Terry (Gina) Huckeba; great-nieces and nephews, Christian Cunningham, Austin Cunningham, Jean-Luc Hill, Tristan Hill, Gabrielle Hill, Bradley Hill, Brian Hill, Jill Flowers, Jennifer Flowers, Will (Jess) Carver, David Carver, Maggie Huckeba, Kris Taylor; aunt, Hilda Smith; sister-in-law, Annette Huckeba; cousins, Bobby Smith, Greg Smith, Bonnie Smith, Walt Campbell, Joan Rantley, Gloria Suddeth, Martha Ann Davis, Shirley Tillman, Wayne Huckeba, Dean Huckeba, Debbie Richardson. She was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Huckeba. Visitation will be at Allen & Allen Funeral Home from 5-7PM on Friday night.
