Services for Mary Carolyn Mobley Clanton, 72, of Ochlocknee, GA will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 14, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Ben Smith will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Clanton died December 8, 2012, after an extended illness. She was born in Douglas, GA to the late Dave and Mattie Roundtree Mobley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Melvin Clanton, grandson, Lucas Anthony Joiner, great-granddaughter Charly Ann McLain and 2 sisters: Joe Ann Riles and Jeraldine Strickland. On June 29, 1956 she married William Melvin Clanton. Mrs. Clanton lived in the Thomasville area most of her life and worked in the Trampoline business for many years. She was an avid cook and catered most recent for The Exchange Club. Her family and all who knew her enjoyed her cooking. She was a member of the Thomasville Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served the Lord in many capacities. She loved to sing, sew, crochet and quilt but her most favorite thing in the world was her 15 children, 55 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William Melvin Clanton of Ochlocknee; 7 daughters: Lorna Rhinehart Chris of Winter Garden FL, Julia Joiner Lem of Ochlocknee GA, Darleen Clinkscales Lawrence of Thomasville, GA, Mary Ellen King Chip of Thomasville, GA, Jean Lea Duren Mark of Lake City, FL, Sherryll Brue Jeff of Thomasville, GA and Lisa Cox of Lake City, FL. 7 sons: Mark Clanton Crystal of Thomasville, GA, Michael Clanton Melissa of Thomasville, GA , Alan Clanton Lexie of Mesa, AZ, Jared Clanton Tara of Cedar Hills, UT, Aaron Clanton Wendi of Athens, GA, Adam Clanton Dena of Leesburg, GA and Eli Clanton Cristie Bremen, GA. 2 sisters: Jeanette Owens, of Tallahassee, FL and Eunice Polatis Dean of Santa Clara, UT and 54 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends 6-8:30 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home in the Chapel.
