Graveside services for Roy Rowan Hallman, 88, of Boston will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Boston, Georgia Cemetery with the Rev. Don West officiating. Mr. Hallman passed away on October 5, 2013 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born December 27, 1924 in Boston, Ga. he was the son of the late Lewie and Girlie Hook Hallman. Mr. Hallman graduated from Boston High School and the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Engineering. He served in the Army, near the end of WWII, and was stationed in the Philippines and in Korea. After graduating from UGA, he was a teacher, a farmer, and a United States Postal Service Rural Letter Carrier. He also served as a Deacon or an Elder for 69 years in the Boston Presbyterian Church of which he was a member, on the Thomas County School Board as a member and chairman, and on the Boston Cemetery Foundation. Mr. Hallman is survived by his wife, of 63 years, Eleanor Taylor Hallman of Boston, Ga; daughters and sons-in-law Virginia and Alan Fabro of Lethbridge Alberta, Canada, Judy Catrett and Craig Shuford of Buena Vista, Ga, Eileen and Doug Mills of Thomaston, Ga, Betty Hoskins of Boston, Ga., and Joy and Vance Hurst of Boston, Ga.; son Mark Hallman of Munich, Germany; 10 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren; special nieces Alice DurhamTerry of Albany, Ga. and Edwina Hallman of Boston, Ga.; sister-in-law Frances Hallman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Sandy Taylor, several nieces and nephews; and special friends Lee Christian and the Christian family of Boston, Ga. and Daniel and Eloise Smith of Dixie, Ga. and their families. He was preceded in death by his brother, Spence Hook Hallman, and his son-in-law, Jimmy Hoskins. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 PM at the Boston Presbyterian Church North Annex located at 438 W. Jefferson St. in Boston. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Boston Cemetery Foundation at P.O. Box 492 Boston, GA 31626 or to the Boston Presbyterian Church at P.O. Box 99 Boston, GA 31626.
