Sara Frances Thomaston

Funeral services for Sara Frances Thomaston, age 73, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Carl Wells will perform services. Pallbearers are Edward Haire, Phil Clay, Roger King, Kenny Hood, Ricky Blalock and John Maddox. Mrs. Thomaston went home to be with her heavenly father on February 23, 2014. She was born January 7, 1941, the daughter of Curtis Odell Martin and Evelyn Christine Martin, both of whom predeceased her. On February 1, 1955 she married her faithful and loving husband, Marion Eugene Thomaston, who survives her. Surviving Mrs. Thomaston is her daughter, Carol Willis (Danny) of Pavo, Georgia; granddaughter, Danielle Matthews (David), their daughters, Abby Matthews and Maggie Matthews; and granddaughter, Jessica Willis. A daughter, Marsha Ann Thomaston, predeceased her mother. Her brothers, Odell Martin (Hope) of Cairo, GA and Wayne Martin (Martha) of Thomasville, GA also survive as do her sisters-in-law, Mildred Knighton, Catherine Thomaston, Helen Williams, Evy Finch, and brother-in-law, James Thomaston (Staffie). Also surviving Mrs. Thomaston is a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thomaston was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a great love for flowers and gardening and was a member of Nocturne Garden Club and later Briarcliff Garden Club. She was an accredited Flower Show Judge and a member of South Georgia Judges Council of The Garden Clubs of Georgia, Inc. A special thank you to Singletary’s Florists and Gifts, and Marge Willis and other garden club members for designing and arranging the blanket using flowers from Mrs. Thomaston’s garden.
