Shirley Kent Day

Memorial services for Shirley Kent Day, 80 of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Trinity Anglican Church. Ms. Day passed away April 21, 2015 at her residence after a brief illness. Born November 20, 1934 in Jackson County, Fl., she was the daughter of the late Lucius Kent and Velma Dasinger Kent. Ms. Day graduated from Marianna High School and St. Lukes Nursing School in Jacksonville, Fl. She worked as a school nurse with the Miller County School System. She was a faithful parishioner of Trinity Anglican Church, was a member of the Junior Service League and a parent volunteer with the Music & Drama Troupe for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took care of her children in life and death. Her passions in life were her love of gardening, birdwatching, painting and drawing the waterfalls & mountains in North Carolina. She is survived by her children, Kelly Day, Eric Day and wife Lorry and Alison Day Courtney all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Anna Day, Daniel Day, Stephanie Day and sisters, Jean Sizemore of Tallahassee, Barbara Kirkland of Lake Seminole, Brenda Woodard and husband Greg of Mexico Beach, Fl and June Kent of Lake Seminole. She was preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 114 A Mimosa Dr Thomasville Ga 31792 or Archbold Foundation Nursing Scholarship Fund 910 South Broad St Thomasville Ga 31792. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
