Mrs. Hehn died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 16th, 2009. She was surrounded by her family, whom she loved. She was born on May 5, 1926 in Parabutsch, Yugoslavia. She met her husband of 62 years, Jakob, when she was 5 years old. They were childhood sweethearts but their marriage was postponed by the chaos of World War II. He was reported missing in action but they were reunited after the war when she happened to see him on a passing train. They were married in Austria where their first son, Bill, was born. They emigrated to Canada in 1951, where she gave birth to her second son, Rudy. In 1960 they once again moved this time to Ft. Pierce, Florida, where she worked in a photography studio. Mrs. Hehn faithfully served in the Catholic church as President of the Women s club, Director of the Choir and manager of the thrift shop. She played guitar for her player group and performed traditional dances with the German Club. Their final move was in 1989 to Thomasville, Georgia, where at St. Augustine Church she revitalized the Women s Club.
Teresia had numerous hobbies and interests. She learned needlepoint, embroidery and crocheting from her mother, continuing these until just before her death. Her handiwork is now enjoyed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved photography, and filled many days researching her family history and compiling numerous albums for future generations to enjoy.
Her marriage of 63years serves as a living example of God s plan of commitment, devotion and faithfulness. She leaves behind her loving husband, Jakob, her son Bill and his wife Trudy, their son Randy and wife Emily, their daughter Julie and husband Jason. She also leaves behind her younger son Rudy, wife Susan, their son Jonathan and wife Kelly, their son Brian and wife Eve, and their son Jeremy. She is blessed by great grandchildren Kayla, Marissa and Jesse. She leaves with us her love of God, love of family, and love of life. We will miss her.
Rosary service is at 6 p.m. and visitation is from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. at Allen and Allen Funeral Home, 110 W. Hansell Street, Thomasville, on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Teresia Hehn s memory.
