Thomas R. "Buck" Bentley

Funeral services for Thomas R. “Buck” Bentley of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 3, 2015 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Rev. Tom Jacobs will officiate and interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. Mr. Bentley passed away March 29, 2015. Born October 21, 1933 in Quitman, he was the son of the late Thomas Ralph Bentley, Sr and Thelma Irene Hall Bentley. He graduated from Quitman High School, where he played football and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Bentley was a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol and was with the GBI as Special Agent in Charge for the SWGA region. He retired after 33 years of service for the state of Georgia. Mr. Bentley was a member of the Thomasville Exchange Club and served as president of the Deep South Fair Association for 2 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend who would do anything for anyone. He took care of his family and friends, with a firm but loving hand. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Bentley-Briggs and husband Al of Franklin, TN, Camille Bentley Lipton and husband George of Atlanta; their mother, Patricia Allen Bentley of Thomasville; grandchildren, Lily, Sophie, Bentley Briggs and; sisters, Naomi B. Giles and Lillian B. Wilkes and niece and nephews. He is also survived by his loving companion, Dot Bentley and her daughter Jade Bentley, her son, Trey DeSantis and his wife Stephanie and their son, Peter. His legacy lives on in every heart he touched. In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 255 Beulah Church Rd, Quitman Ga 31643, the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1201, Albany Ga 31702 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the funeral home.
