Virginia Hudson Griffin

Services for Virginia Hudson Griffin, 89, of Thomasville are 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Dawson Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Carl Howard and Rev. Jim Nelson will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Griffin died March 24, 2011 at Plantation Manor. Born December 9, 1921 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Loy Hudson and Mayme Belcher Hudson. On May 1, 1949 she married H. Bivins Griffin who preceded her in death. She was a retired bookkeeper at Thomasville City Water & Light. Survivors include Burt B. Griffin and wife Lanette of Cashiers, NC; daughter Brenda G. Simmons of Anchorage Alaska; grandchildren John W. Simmons, Jr. and wife Robyn of Anchorage, Alaska and Melanie Simmons and fiancé Scott Hartley of Columbus, OH; sister Edith Gibson of Thomasville and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dawson Street United Methodist Church, 1132 N. Dawson St, Thomasville, Ga 31792 or Community Foundation of South Georgia for Jim Neill Alzheimer's Walk, 135 N. Broad St, Thomasville, Ga 31792.
