Wanda Gayle Tenan Powell

Funeral services for Wanda Gayle Tenan Powell, 77, of Thomasville will be Thursday October 2 at 11:00 AM at Dawson St. Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Lee Powell and Rev. Lee Waller will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Powell passed away September 29, 2014. Wanda was born June 1, 1937 to the late Thomas Lucius Tenan and Wayne Scarbrough Tenan in Seminole, OK. She grew up in Russell, KS and graduated from Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS. In 1962 she married R. Carlton Powell and moved to Thomasville, GA in 1963. Wanda is survived by her husband, R. Carlton Powell; daughter Kay Powell Streets (Tim Streets); son Lee Powell (Shannon); grandchildren: Brent Streets, Thomas Streets, Luke Streets, Aden Powell, Asa Powell, and Isaac Blaze Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tommy Tenan. The family would like to express special thanks to the greatest neighbors anyone could ask for: Billy and Phylis Dees and Jan and Brenda Taylor.
