William J. Becknell

Services for William (Bill) J. Becknell will be held 3PM Saturday August 24, 2019 at Thomasville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Burns Willis officiating. Mr. Becknell passed away at his home on Thursday, August 22, 2019. William was born in Plymouth, Indiana on December 3, 1929 to the late Milo Becknell and Helen Plummer Becknell. In 1950, Mr. Becknell began serving in the Marine Corp. In 1953 he then started his career with the Mobile Home Industry in Indiana, then was relocated in 1966 to Thomasville serving as a plant manager. After retirement he opened a Mobile Home and RV supply store, where he worked until his death. Alongside his many accomplishments, he was an active member in the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Becknell; sons Doug Becknell (Laura) of Easley, SC and Brad Becknell (Janice) of Ocoee, FL; daughters Greer Cox (Dennis) of Thomasville, GA and Mindy Denton of Quitman, GA; grandchildren Matt Becknell, Josh Becknell, Whitney Becknell Connolly, Adam Cox, Brooke Cox Eaddy, and Nicole Wilford Brock; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dave Becknell, nephew, Ben Becknell, and son-in-law, Allen Denton. His family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2-3PM.
