John Hinson

Funeral services for John Lyman Hinson, 76 of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Marty Carnes will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hinson passed away March 23, 2018 at Camellia Gardens. He was born November 6, 1941, in Moultrie but was raised in Hinsonton. He was the son of the late Lyman Green Hinson and Lila Maxine Hatcher Hinson. He was married to Judy McGalliard Hinson, who survives. Mr. Hinson was a graduate of Pelham High School where he was an accomplished running back for the football team. He was a retired CPA with Fletcher & Associates, P.C., and was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He was also a member of the Thomasville Kiwanis Club; he enjoyed golfing and exercising at the YMCA. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryle Gelfand and husband Barry of Cumming; sons, Stephen Hinson and wife Cheryl of Athens, and Marcus Hinson and wife Jeanne of Cartersville; grandchildren, Olivia Gelfand, Isabelle Gelfand, J.T. Hinson and Ella Hinson and Nephews, Lofley Hinson of Cairo and Dan Hinson of Hinsonton. He was preceded in death by step-daughter, Kathy Knight and brother, Cecil Hinson. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Thomasville YMCA Scholarship Program, PO Box 1037, Thomasville, Ga, 31799, to help less fortunate kids attend YMCA summer camps. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Saturday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
