Memorial services for Lula Morrell, 99 of Cairo, Georgia will be Saturday April 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Morrell passed away peacefully at her home on January 22, 2021. Mrs. Morrell was born on December 12, 1921 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late William G. Bulloch and Lilla Mae Spence Bulloch. She was raised in the Spence, Georgia Community and graduated from Cairo High School. She was married to Deloy Morrell on November 24, 1943. She was preceded in death by 11 siblings, her husband, Deloy Morrell, and two grandsons, John Morrell and Jeff Harris. She is survived by her children, Delores Harris (Richard) of Cairo and Thomasville, Georgia, Glenn Morrell (Julia) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Judy Miller (Freddie) of Jackson, Georgia; grandsons, Scott Harris of Tallahassee, Florida, Greg Harris of Thomasville, Georgia, Jay Morrell of Warrenville, Illinois, Joel Morrell of Thomasville, Georgia, Dustin Miller of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Michael Miller of Roswell, Georgia; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Mrs. Morrell was a spunky (or as one of her grandsons put it, “she was a firecracker”), feisty, sharp as a tack 99 year old. Being the last surviving sibling of the 12 Bulloch children, she served as the family historian and delighted in telling and entertaining stories about her youth and large family. Her long term memory was phenomenal and she was fascinating to listen to when she told her tales of long ago days. She was adored by her children and grandchildren. She took great joy in being outside working in her yard and chatting with family and friends.
