Funeral services for Bruce Dillard, 81, of Thomasville will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Rev. Tyler Tibbs will officiate. Mr. Dillard passed away on March 17, 2017. Born October 4, 1935 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Mamie Shaw and Walter L. Dillard, Sr. He was a graduate of Southern Technical Institute in Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Dillard worked for Modern Builders for 25 years. He was the owner of Dillard Trusses and also spent his time building and restoring homes around Thomasville, including the Lapham-Patterson House, All Saints Episcopal Church, and Pebble Hill, which are all on the National Historic Register. Mr. Dillard was a member of the Rose City Kiwanis Club of Thomasville, where he once served as President. He loved going to St. Mary’s and, spending time with his family. He also served on the Thomas County Board of Tax Accessors for 22 years. He was a member of Moultrie Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Dillard taught Sunday School at Thomasville Church of the Nazarene. He also traveled and taught Sunday School at each fire station for 20 years. Mr. Dillard was married to Laverne Harris Dillard, who survives. Other survivors include daughters D.D. Mediate and husband Dale of Thomasville and Julie Wimberly and husband Kevin of Moultrie; grandchildren Carson Mediate, Kendell Mediate, Katie Wimberly and Carrie Grace Wimberly; brothers Byron Dillard of Lynchburg, Virginia and Phillip Dillard of Cedartown, Georgia; and sister Barbara Holloday of Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Walter Dillard, Jr., William Dillard and sister Connie Moore. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2017, 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.
