David "Gene" Owens

Visitation for David Eugene “Gene” Owens will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel. David “Gene” Owens, age 82, of Thomasville passed away on April 4, 2023, at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home. He was born in Pelham on March 13, 1941, to the late Walter and Wilma Pollock Owens. Gene retired from Archbold where he worked in the Radiology Department. He was an avid reader and loved fishing, riding horses, and was known for his whistling. Gene is survived by his daughters Jennifer Owens Benton (Scott) of Thomasville, and Sherryl Mercer (Tony) of Blountstown, Fl.; step-children that he loved as his own Butch, Debbie, Carol, and Ricky all of Thomasville; son-in-law Terry Jackson of Thomasville; grandchildren Kristen Garrity (Shawn), Jesse Benton, Beau Garbett, Katy Garbett White, Luke Jackson, Josh Williams and Matt Williams; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved; brother Ronald Owens of Thomasville; and sisters Linda Maddox of Cairo, and Betty Donalson of Thomasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Hagan Owens, daughter Shirley Jackson, and sister Grace Anderson.
