Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Thomasville First United Methodist Church with Reverend Carrie Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Allen and Allen Funeral Home.
Dorothy "Dot" Fountain Bentley (May 15, 1948 - June 16, 2023) was born and raised in Swainsboro, GA. She graduated from Swainsboro High School and attended Valdosta State University where she obtained a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Dot taught kindergarten for over 20 years with the Thomas County School system until her retirement. She always loved seeing past students around town, hearing how they were doing, and seeing the young men and women they had grown into.
Dot loved to laugh, had a quick wit, a passion for antiques, loved attending estate sales, playing any type of card game, and spending time with family and friends. Dot was a past member of the Junior Service League and had fond memories of participating in the Follies. Dot was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Thomasville First United Methodist Church.
Dot was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred "Pill" Riner Fountain, father, Gordon Fountain, Jr., daughter, Cherish Fountain DeSantis, and the love of her life, Thomas R. "Buck" Bentley. Dot is survived by her son Trey DeSantis (Stephanie), daughter Jade Slater (Matt), grandson Peter DeSantis, and granddaughter Blakely Slater.
