Memorial Services for Isolde Sehm Mayes will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014, at Allen & Allen Funeral Home, 110 W. Hansell Street, Thomasville, Georgia. Mrs. Mayes died Friday, November 21, 2014. Mrs. Mayes was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States when she was a child of five years old with her parents, Walter and Anna Sehm, both of whom predeceased her. Mrs. Mayes was married in 1960 to her husband, Richard L. Mayes, who predeceased her. She shared five step-children with her husband, Richard: Robert M. Mayes, who predeceased her, Laurie M. Flynn of Alexandria, Virginia, Diana M. Anderson of Sequim, Washington, Randall L. Mayes of Hume, Virginia, and Stanley R. Mayes of Thomasville, Georgia.
Mrs. Mayes was reared in Easton, Pennsylvania and was employed as an executive assistant with the U. S. Department of Commerce, the position from which she retired. She was a classically trained singer and pianist and a gifted alto. Her last recording was of the German Requiem with the Georgetown Presbyterian Church Choir. She and Richard moved to Thomasville from Alexandria, Virginia in 1989, where she lived until her passing. Isolde loved music and her garden club. Memorials may be made to the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation or Briarcliff Garden Club.
