James Fred Norris

Services for James Fred Norris, 85, of Thomasville are 10:00 am, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church Chapel. The Rev. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Norris passed away May 25, 2011 at Thomasville Nursing & Rehab. Born December 8, 1925 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Fred Spicer Norris and Laura White Norris. On June 16, 1946 at Dawson Street Baptist Church he married Bobbie Price Norris who survives. Mr. Norris was a 1943 graduate of Thomasville High School, retired from the United States Postal Service in 1980 after 37 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Other survivors include daughters, Dawn Ansley and husband Bobby, Lynne Chastain and husband Allan all of Thomasville and Kay Marple and husband Robert of Valdosta; grandchildren, Mariea Hester and husband William, Natalie Jones and husband Ben, Julie Chastain, Trebor Marple and wife Kate, Joshua Marple and wife Laura, Meghan Perry and husband Creed; 11 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margi Patterson, Betty Hygema, Sue Jackson and husband Bobby and Casey Kinert. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Kim Ansley. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Friday, May 27, 2011 at the funeral home. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
