Services for James R. Jimmie Powell of Tifton, GA will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Tifton. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe, the Rev. Wayne McCrimmon and the Rev. Don L. Powell will officiate. Mr. Powell died April 27 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born November 2, 1926 in Dothan, Ala., he was the son of the late Omer and Arie Whitefield Powell. Mr. Powell was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a member of the I-75 Ministries, where he helped people who were in automobile accidents on I-75. He was a Jester in the Shriner?s Club and was a pilot who flew burn victims for the Shriners and was a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hamner Powell, a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Powell of Thomasville, daughter and son-in-law, DeeDee and Rick Evans of Irwinville, GA, brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Jerry Powell of Valdosta, GA, Don and Pat Powell of Roanoke, VA, grandchildren, Jamie and Pam Evans, Jodi Evans all of Irvinville, GA, Steven Powell, Harlen Shackleford both of Thomasville, great grandchildren, Kelsey Evans, Jaelyn Evans and Brooke Powell, 2 nephews and 2 nieces. A brother Omer Powell, Jr preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to I-75 Ministries, c/o First Baptist Church, 404 Love Ave., Tifton, GA 31794.
