Graveside services for Joseph Joe Edward Barnes, 80, of Boston are 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Mitch Clements, Rev. Ronald Barrett and Rev. Harold Pullen will officiate. Pallbearers are grandsons and honorary pallbearers are Cledus Burgess, Lacy Tully, Len Robinson, Bob Goff, David Owens, Darell Owens, James Smith and Malvin Brinson. Mr. Barnes died March 10, 2008 at Brooks County Hospital. Born in Colquitt Co, he was the son of the late Joseph Noel Barnes and Mary Magdalene Kelly Barnes. On August 11, 1948 in Blackshear Ga, he married Vonice Raulerson Barnes who survives. He was a member of Summerhill Baptist Church, worked at Sunnyland for 21 years, Balfour Lumber for 14 years as a deliveryman and enjoyed woodworking, blue grass music and gardening. Other survivors are sons & daughters-in-law, Edward & Betty Barnes of Coolidge, Thomas & Luann Barnes of Cherry Lake, Fl, Rick & Kathi Barnes of Boston, son David Barnes of Thomasville, daughters & sons-in-law, Helen & Bubba Brogdon of Cairo, Susan & Dwight Sherrod of Boston, Phyllis & Rodney Young of Valdosta, Becky & Robyn McDonald of Boston, brothers, Ira Barnes of Ocala, Fl, Marvin Barnes of Greenville, Tenn, sisters, Bonnie Barnes of Pensacola, Fl, Mary Rhodes of Pensacola, Fl, sisters-in-law, Verdie Barnes of Lake Park, Mary Barnes of Albany, grandchildren, Stephanie & Todd Jones, Heather & Shannon Parker, Vonice & Robert Collier, Jenny & Robert Dees, Michele Barnes, Phillip Hackle, Melissa & Chris Bozeman, Chris & Jennifer Barnes, Lee & Monica Dyess, Danyelle, Patrick and Tara Barnes, Dwight & Lisa Sherrod, Leslie & Chris Wilfred, Joe Brady, Pete Webster and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene Barnes, Rupert Barnes, Richard Barnes, Noel Barnes, sisters, Gertrude Blalock, Delois Keener, Naomi Lange, Edna Wilkie, and grandson Corey Barnes.
