Mae Ruby Scott

Funeral services for Mae Powell Scott will be held at 2:00PM on Monday February 7, 2022 at First Newark Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Brooks and Rev. Lee Powell officiating with visitation prior to the service from 1:00-2:00PM. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luke Streets, Asa Powell, Charles Gainey, Mryl Potter, Bubba Horne, and Kyle Riley. Mrs. Scott passed away on Thursday February 3, 2022 at her residence. Born on October 26, 1944 in Coolidge, she was the daughter of the late Revis and Madge Carlton Powell. She was a member of First Newark Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She enjoyed being a military wife and loved traveling the world and teaching school at many military school bases where they were stationed. She was married to Larry Wayne Scott Sr. Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Joye Scott McLester-Owen (Richard); son Larry Wayne (Scottie) Scott Jr.; brother R. Carlton Powell; granddaughter Carol Renee McLester-Bode (Brandon); great granddaughter Gabrielle Bode and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son Christopher Brian Scott, and sisters Helen Dale Powell and Nevelle Powell Horne. Her family would like to thank Dr. Santos, Dr. Hatfield, Dr. Crenshaw and their staff for the exceptional care of Mrs. Scott.
