Marlin "M.L." Leslie Benton

Marlin Leslie Benton (M.L.) passed away on Saturday March 11, 2017. We saw the passing of a remarkable man. M.L., 91, was born in Thomas County on October 4th 1925 to Harry & Bertha Robertson Benton. He was one of four children and was the last living of his siblings. Preceded in death before him were Horace Benton, Eugene Benton, and Myrtle Benton Scarborough. M.L. was married to Wilma Hurst Allen Benton for 16 years before her passing in 2011 and had no children from this marriage. He has six children from previous marriages. Two were from his marriage to Betty Ruth Martin Benton who passed in 1995. Michael Benton of Thomasville and Marcia Benton Posey of Tallahassee. He later Married Betty June Shiver who had two children Carolyn Benton Kierce of Thomasville and Jimmy Benton of North Carolina. M.L. and Betty had two children together who are Lynne Benton Cloud and Billy Benton both of Thomasville. He is also survived by his grandchildren Micah Posey of N.C.,Mandy Posey Jones and Major Posey all of Tallahassee, Fl. Marie Cloud Garrison and Ryan Cloud both of Thomasville, Miranda Kierce of Ochlocknee, Jimmy Dean Benton Jr. and Danielle Benton both of Moultrie Ga.; Great grandchildren Jacob Cloud, Parker Garrison both of Thomasville, Ga., Sawyer Jones of Tallahassee, Fl. M.L. dedicated 42 years to Flowers Bakery. He was known for his hard work, diligence and loyalty. He was a true southern gentleman and always insisted on traditional values and believed a man was only as good as his word. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had the utmost respect for nature and God’s creation. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Viewing will be held on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Allen and Allen Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM. Services for M.L. will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday March 20, 2017 in the chapel of Allen & Allen Funeral Home with Military graveside rites to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
