Martha Duchess Chastain Donovan
Funeral services for Martha Duchess Chastain Donovan, 83, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2008, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Dan Spencer and Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Donovan died October 18 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born November 9, 1924, in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Lambert and Gladys Stanaland Chastain. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Donovan was a graduate of Valdosta State College for Women and she retired from the Thomas County school system after 35 years of teaching. She was very active in her church and the community. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, mentor and friend to many. Survivors include daughters, Susan Haslam Brown and Ellen Haslam Van Alstine both of Thomasville ; son and daughter-in-law, James Worrill and Regina Haslam of Canton; grandchildren, Susan Lynn Manning and husband, Michael, Martha Ann Buoy and husband, Michael, Hines Trulock and wife, Caroline, James Haslam and wife, Meredith, Palmer Haslam Smith and husband, Foster, Kristen Kimmons Woolsey and husband, Stacey, David Kimmons and Joey Van Alstine; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Hailey Manning, Ethan and Olivia Trulock and Bryce and Brock Buoy; and nephew, C.B. Scooter Grubbs of Thomasville; niece, Della Golden Spence. She was preceded in death by husband, Adam Worrill Haslam; sons, David Michael Haslam and Adam Harvey Haslam; devoted sister and best friend, Mary Chastain "Grubbsy" Grubbs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society, 180 Big Star Drive, Thomasville, GA 31757 or to the First Baptist Church Library Fund, P.O.
