Graveside services for Marvin Lester Hancock, 95, of Cairo, GA will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo. Mr. Hancock died January 2, 2019. Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. Pallbearers are David Reckford, Clay Lamar, Clayton Lamar, Cuy Lamar, Chase Hancock and Bobby Smallwood. Mr. Hancock was born November 30, 1923 in Cairo, GA to Alexander and Julia Tilley Hancock, who predeceased him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Aycock Hancock. After his service in WWII as a Marine, he became a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed nature in general but was especially fond of birdwatching. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by: sons, John L. (Susan) Hancock, Cairo, Carlton Hancock, Cairo, Steve (Patsy) Hancock, Camilla; daughter Betsy Hancock (Jimmy) Barber, of Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Kaye Lamar, April Reckford, Bobby Smallwood, Malone Harrell, Anne Stadler and Chase Hancock. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Hunter Hancock. Donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia. Guests may sign on-line at www.allenfh.com .
