Services for Mary H. Shannon Strickland of Boston, GA are at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Boston United Methodist Church where she was a member. Rev. Scott Cook will officiate with interment in Boston Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Strickland died Friday, July 9, 2004 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Born August 10, 1923 in Bacon Co., GA she was the daughter of the late Stephen Buford and Hattie Mae Thompson Shannon. She was married to Glenn Max Strickland who preceded her in death. Mrs. Strickland was a graduate of South Georgia College in Douglas, GA. She served as church treasurer and was a homemaker and former teacher. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda James Allen Rollins of Ochlocknee, GA, Carol Doyle, Sr. West of Meigs, GA, Anne Barnes Wahl Earnest, Jr. of Thomasville, GA, sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn M., Jr. Teresa Bentley Strickland of King George, VA, Timothy Shannon Marli Clark Strickland of Tallahassee, FL, son, Mark A. Strickland of Boston, GA, sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy S. and Premysel Rigdon of Alma, GA, Gladys S. and Hubert Douglas, grandchildren, Matthew Strickland, Hannah Strickland, Bryon Strickland, Todd Strickland, Melissa B. Clanton, Frank A. Barnes, Rachel B. Brinson, Laura B. Phillips, Karen W. Willis, Lisa W. Slaughter, Deanna W. Singletary, Doyle E. West, Jr., James R. Rollins and Lori R. Philbin and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Buford Shannon, great grandson Tristan Singletary and grandson-in-law Tony Phillips. Memorials may be made to Boston United Methodist Church, Boston, GA. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
