Monnie "Jo" Moody

December 27, 1931 - April 10, 2022

Monnie "Jo" Moody, 90, of Thomasville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at her home in Thomasville. Born in Salem, SC, Jo grew up in Georgia. However, she lived her adult life in many places. Her husband's service in the U.S. Navy took them to California, Panama, Cyprus and Germany. In the 1960s they returned to the Thomasville/Boston, GA area and then moved to Greenville, SC in the early 1970's where she lived until 2001 before returning to Thomasville. Jo was known for her joy, laughter, and contentment and found great satisfaction in serving others. She loved deeply and treasured the relationships with her family and close friends. Jo was a caretaker at heart and lived to encourage others through acts of service. She was happiest in the kitchen preparing one of her legendary southern home-cooked meals with her loved ones gathered around the table. She was preceded in death by her father, Cosby W Graham and mother, Nellie D Graham; first husband Gerald Holland, second husband Major Looper, third husband Joseph Moody; daughter, Phyllis Linton; sisters Alma Bearden and Avis Johnson; brother James Graham; and beloved granddaughter, Jodi Linton Cloer. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie McBride and son-in-law, JD "Bird" McBride; son-in-law Bill Linton (Elisabeth Linton); brothers Lincoln Graham (Marta Graham) and Blake Graham; grandchildren Jay Lowe (Lisa Lowe) and Philip Linton (Alexandra Linton); great-grandchildren Jace Lowe, Morgan Lowe VanLandingham (Dean VanLandingham), Holland Cloer, Drew Cloer, Aubrey Linton; and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thank you and recognition to her primary care doctor, Rick Fenlon and caretakers Dovie Ross, Susan Brown, Dorothy Standill, and Kathy Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Those closest to Jo's heart were Smile Train, Dementia Society of America, and Bethany Hospice and Palliative Care, 2012 E Pinetree Blvd suite a, Thomasville, GA 31792. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 3:00pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens (7784 Augusta Rd, Piedmont, SC 29673).
