Services for Samuel Daniel Dick Groover, Jr., 82, of Boston are 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Boston Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Tim Phillips will officiate and interment is in Boston Cemetery. Mr. Groover died June 7, 2007 at his residence. Born March 5, 1925 in Boston he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Irene Cole Groover. On March 14, 1983 in Boston he married June Singleton Groover, who survives. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in North Africa and Naples, Italy. He was retired from the Post Office and was President of Boston Tractor for 42 years. He was a member of the Boston Cemetery Maintenance Foundation, and was a founder of First National Bank of Thomasville, Director of Sun Trust Bank and he was a retired farmer. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Bob Kelley of Marietta; son, Danny Groover of Boston; step-daughter and husband, Julie Faith and Rex Robinson of Boston; grandchildren, Bradley Clark, Keith Williams III and Kristy and Brent Howell; great-grandchild, Kohen Howell; sister-in-law, Sue Groover; and nephew, James M. Groover, Jr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwendolyn Groover in October of 1972; and brother, James Moody Groover. Memorials may be made to the Boston Cemetery Maintenance Foundation, P.O. Box 492, Boston, Ga 31626 and to Boston Baptist Church, P.O. Box 156, Boston, Ga 31626.
