Susan Haslam Brown, age 70, was called home by her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2018. She was born January 19, 1948 in Thomasville, GA. and was a life-long Thomasville area resident. Susan’s life was peppered with many trials but she faced them with indeterminable strength. Her family was her world and doing for others is what gave her purpose.
Susan could never say “no” so volunteering, serving, or just being there for her friends was inevitable. Whether you knew her a lifetime or just met her, you were a friend. Quick with a smile and kind words, she always took a genuine interest in those she met and she valued her friendships deeply.
She was incredibly intelligent, witty and had a wicked sense of humor. She was a quite a football fan and always supported the Florida State Seminoles. She loved to read and her favorite book was The Holy Bible. She was steadfast in her faith and fervent in her prayers. Even in the darkest of times, she walked in the light of His Grace.
Some of Susan’s service work included working as a Hospice volunteer in Tallahassee, FL. she assisted residents at the Thomasville Housing Authority, and did secretarial work for her late husband, Psychologist, Dr. Larry Brown.
While she was a supporter in helping all of God’s creatures, her passion was for cats. She had a penchant for helping the strays and spent invaluable time rescuing those in need.
Susan touched the lives of many and will be missed greatly by all who knew her heart and beautiful spirit. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, loving mother, devoted animal advocate and a child of God.
Susan was the daughter of the late Adam Worrill Haslam and Martha “Duchess” Haslam Donovan. She was preceded in death by her brothers David Michael Haslam, Adam Harvey Haslam, and her sister, Ellen Haslam Van Alstine.
