Graveside services for Adelle Godwin Kimbrough, 89, of Thomasville are 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Laurel Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner and Rev. Dr. Tom Jacobs officiating. Mrs. Kimbrough died peacefully at her residence December 14. Adelle was born April 17, 1919 in Thomasville and was the oldest child of Betty & Remer Godwin. Upon graduation from Boston High School, she attended Joy Business School. On August 6, 1936, she married her beloved husband Alvan Fletcher Kimbrough, who preceded her in death on July 18, 2007. Mrs. Kimbrough was very active in First Baptist Church where she was a WMU leader, a Sunday School teacher and part-time librarian. She dedicated her life toward helping others through her volunteer work with Red Cross, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Parent Teacher Associations. She worked diligently toward promoting and helping to establish local organizations including Thomasville Landmarks, Thomas County Historical Society, youth programs for DAR, UDC and various docent programs. Mrs. Kimbrough is survived by her children, Ginger Norman of Thomasville, Al Kimbrough of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Anne and Paul Corbin of Pavo, Jane and John Guy of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jennifer and Allen Cummings of Canton, Van and Julie Kimbrough of Kennasaw; three great grandchildren, Summer Sosebee, Camden Cummings and Lauren Kimbrough; a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Willis Singletary of Thomasville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Boles of Calvary, Mary Spivey of Hahira, Barbara and Dempsey Wallace of Dunwoody; and devoted caregivers and friends, Glenda Wilcox, Cassandra Fredericks, April Sasser and Gloria Williams. She was preceded in death by brothers & sisters, Tullis Godwin, Lawson Godwin, Louise Boles, and brother-in-law, Manous Boles.
