Funeral services for Agnes Evans Barrett, 90, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 7 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville, GA. Rev. Steve Clawson will officiate and internment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Barrett died on August 4, 2012 in Valdosta. Born January 15, 1922 in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Durward R. and Vestia L. Minix Evans. Mrs. Barrett lived in South Georgia her entire life. She was married to Crawford Eugene Barrett, who preceded her in death on August 30, 1990. Mrs. Barrett worked as the supervisor of housekeeping at Greenwood Plantation and also was a hairdresser for 34 years. She was a Charter member of Dawson St. Baptist Church and a member of the Briarcliff Garden Club. Her hobbies included quilting, reading, sewing, working with flowers, painting and embroidering. She also loved to cook especially baking wedding cakes which she did for many local brides. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles "Buck" Evans, Walter Lee Evans, Ronald Evans and by her sister, Jackie Evans. Survivors include her daughter and son in law Margaret and Arliss Boyles of Barwick and a son and daughter in law, Jim and Barbara Barrett of Hahira. Also surviving are grandchildren Jay Barrett, Stacey Boyles, Michael and Shea Boyles, Ryan and Heather Ferguson, and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Mabree and Seth Boyles. Other survivors include a sister Odean Capps of Macon, sisters in law, Ruth Wilson Evans of New Mexico, Janice Little of Columbus, Eudell Bryant of Pine Park and several nieces and nephews.
