Services for Agnes Juanita Stokes, 89 of Albany, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel, with her family receiving friends from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Pastor Butch Knight will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Stokes passed away April 10, 2022 at her home. Born February 28, 1933 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late E.O. Chastain & Bessie Lee Hamrick Tillery. On June 3, 1950 in Thomasville, she married Clifton Stokes, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage. She worked as an Avon Lady and sold insurance for Liberty National and Cotton States Insurance Companies, but for the first 18 years of marriage, she was a mother and housewife. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albany where she served as a greeter. She enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, embroidery, and loved to read. She is survived by her children, Yvonne Minshew of Valdosta, Randy Stokes of Albany, Ted Stokes of Albany and Linda Taylor of Leesburg; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Ondria Sanders of Thomasville and brothers, Maurice Chastain, Alvin Chastain, both of Thomasville, Curtis Chastain of Panama City, Fl. and Myron Chastain of Cairo. She is preceded in death by husband, Clifton Stokes; father & step-mother, E.O. & Adelene Chastain; mother & step-father, Bessie & Shelby Tillery; brothers, Johnny Huckeba and Thomas Chastain and sister, Margie Price.
