Albert Edward "Ed" Benton

Services for Albert Edward Ed Benton, 79 of Ochlocknee will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Rose City Church of God. Reverend Gerald Horne, Reverend Charles Blair, Reverend Victor Bacon and Reverend James Wright will officiate and interment will follow at Little Ochlocknee Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Massey, Buddy Rhoden, Tony Rhoden, Billy Benton, Al Swilley and Chase Ibarra. Mr. Benton passed away October 11 at his residence. Born March 20, 1938 in Ochlocknee, he was the son of the late Albert Paxton Benton and Montine Rawlins Benton. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma Jean Swilley Benton. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Rose City Church of God. He served 3 terms as a Thomas County School Board member and was part of several other civic organizations. He is also survived by son, Stanley Paxton Benton of Bainbridge; daughter, Stephanie Williams and husband Wayne of Soperton; grandson, Connor Paxton Wilson of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Larry Benton and wife Peggy of Morven; sisters, Serena Swilley and husband Albert of Valdosta and Patricia Lee of Ochlocknee and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to Rose City Church of God Youth Fund, 2750 N Pinetree Blvd, Thomasville, Ga 31792. Family will receive friends 6-8pm, Friday, October 13, 2017 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
