Albert Jay Soday
Services for Albert Jay Soday, 84, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Soday died Dec. 19 at Camellia Gardens. Born October 3, 1924, in Grove City, Penn, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Graham Soday. On June 2, 1952, in Baton Rouge, LA, he married Nina Jeanette Smith Soday, who survives. He served with Patton's 3rd Army in Europe during WWII, 371ST Engineering Battalion, where they constructed bridges throughout Europe. In 1950, he graduated from LSU, majoring in Chemical Engineering. He was retired from Mississippi Chemical Corporation, located in Yazoo City, Miss. Serving with the Farmer's Corporation in Miss., he worked on government projects in countries around the world. He spent months in India encouraging the building of fertilizer plants. Similar work was also done in Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Costa Rica and Panama. He has spent the last 15 years in Thomasville, where he was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include Children, Jay Calton Soday and wife, Roselynn, Denver Soday all of Jackson, Miss. and Gwyn Mallett and husband, Jerry of Thomasville; grandchildren, Samantha Soday McWilliams and husband David, Molly Soday Senior and husband, Josh, Kimberly Soday White and husband, Jason, Katie Soday Murphy and husband, Nick, Sarabeth Soday, Lauryl Mallett, Kent Mallett and Seth Mallett; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Crawford of Grove City, Penn.
