Funeral services for Albert P. Benton, 86, of Thomasville will be Monday, June 30 at 11:00 AM at Parkway Church of God. Interment will be at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Dan Tomberlin, Charles Blair, and W.A. Bingham will officiate. He was the last Charter Member of New Hope Church of God. Mr. Benton died on June 27, 2003 at Camellia Gardens. The son of Henry Paxton Pack & Elizabeth Busbee Benton, he was born on September 28, 1916 in Thomas County. Mr. Benton was married to Montine Rawlins Benton on January 16, 1937. They were married for 53 years until her death on June 1, 1990. He later married to Hazel Bond Carter Benton, who proceded him in death. He was currently married to Marie Norman Benton, who survives. Mr. Benton was a retired farmer. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law A. Edward and Jean Benton of Ochlochnee; Larry Austin and Peggy Benton of Meigs, GA. Daughters and sons-in-law Serena & Albert Swilley of Valdosta; Patricia and Gordon Lee of Ochlochnee. Other survivors include 3 brothers, Eugene Benton of Palm Bay, Fl, James L. Benton of Easley, SC, Wesley Benton of Apopka, Fl.; 6 sisters, Myrtice Bloodworth of Ochlochnee, Margaret Lairsey of Barnwell, SC, Ruby Loyd of Meigs,Ga, Evelyn Roberts of Tallahassee, Fl., Deoris Vinson of Ochlochnee, Marie Lowe of Barnwell, SC., and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren Stanley P. Benton of Bainbridge, Ga., Stephanie B. and Wayne Williams of Soperton, Ga., Letitia S. and Robert Ibarra of Jackson, Miss, Andrea S. and Herbert Hopper of Adel, Ga, Lori S. and Jim Bennett of Valdosta, Ga., Al and Lori Swilley of Valdosta, Ga., F.J. Lee of Ochlochnee, Sophia Lee of Ochlochnee, Regina B. and Charles Bruce Jr. of Dawson, Ga., and Shalon Benton of Valdosta, Ga. Great Grandchildren surviving include Conner Wilson, Chelsea Ibarra, Chase Ibarra, Alexandrea Hopper, Joseph Hopper, Austin Bennett, Sam Bennett, Kahlan Bruce, and Rebecca Bruce. His first priorities of life were his relationships with his heavenly father and family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Sunday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
