Albert Joshua Woods

Funeral services for Albert Joshua Woods of Thomasville, 86, will be 1:00PM, January 3, 2018, at First Newark Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Brooks and Rev. Mike Keown will officiate and interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Albert was born August 24, 1931 and died December 29, 2017. He was married to his loving wife of 63 years. Albert is survived by his wife, Mildred “Betty” Woods; sisters, Margaret Hart, Barbara Donaldson, Elizabeth Graham; daughter, Tammy P. Murphy; son, Danny A. Woods; granddaughter, April Hataway; grandson, Nick Murphy; great grandsons, Ethan, Seth and Griffin Carden; great granddaughter, Arany Hataway. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard, where he served as a Master Sgt., tank commander, machine gun specialist and drill instructor. Albert retired as Thomas County Maintenance Superintendent of 20 years, where he was most proud of building two fire trucks for the county. Albert enjoyed his retirement by fishing every chance he had and spending time with his family and his church family. Albert’s honest and caring attitude will be miss by all who knew him. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.
