With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Allen Fletcher Hobbs, a beloved dad, son, brother, and cherished friend. Allen peacefully left this world on January 24, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Hospital in Moultrie, GA, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 64 years old.
Born on December 28, 1959, in Thomasville, GA, Allen was the son of the late Henry Melton Hobbs, Jr and Ann Griner Hobbs who survives. He grew up in a close-knit family, where he developed a strong bond with his brother, Timothy Melton Hobbs (wife Margaret) of Thomasville, and his sister, Connie Hobbs Vaughan (husband Greg) of Ochlocknee. He would often enjoy reminiscing over the fond memories of the past with family. He also cherished the time he spent with his granddaddy's and extended family.
He was a 1978 graduate of Central High school where he played football. Allen was known for his passion for the construction industry, where he and his father and brother made a name for themselves with Hobbs Land Development. He took great pride in his work, leaving behind a lasting legacy of quality craftsmanship and reliability in the field.
He possessed a deep love for his daughter, Kandace Hobbs Cody and husband Mitchell, of Jacksonville, Fl and took joy in their shared adventures and precious moments together. She was the pride and joy of his life.
He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, had a knack for arrowhead hunting, enjoyed fishing and his cat and dog companions. Art also held a special place in Allen's heart, where he found inspiration and self-expression. Whether it was painting, sketching, or simply admiring the works of others, he appreciated the beauty and creativity that art offered.
In times of both triumph and challenge, Allen leaned on his unwavering faith in the Lord. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized at New Shiloh Baptist Church. He loved reading his Bible and listening to praise & worship music. His spirituality provided him with strength, guidance, and a sense of purpose throughout his life's journey. He never missed an opportunity to share his love of Jesus with those around him.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church. Dr. Richard Hughes and Pastor Julian Griner will officiate the service, offering words of comfort and celebrating Allen's life. The family will receive friends 3:00 - 4:00 pm before the service at the church. Following the service, Allen will be laid to rest at the peaceful Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
