Allene K Lanter

Allene Kitchens Lanter, 94, passed away in Cairo, GA on November 29, 2019. Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 PM at the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel and Rev. Wayne McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be December 7, 2019 from 1-2 PM before the service. A private burial will be at Laurel Hill. Active pallbearers are Mike Jones, Todd Meuninck, Garrett Meuninck, Daniel Jones, Darrell Campbell, and Roddy Jones. Mrs. Lanter was born in Quitman, GA on October 11, 1925 to the late Herbert and Beatrice Kitchens. She was married to Robert Hayes Lanter on March 2, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1981. Mrs. Lanter lived in Thomasville, GA and was a faithful member of Thomasville First Baptist Church. While a member, she participated in Young At Heart Choir, volunteered at VBS, and Women’s Circle. She and her husband enjoyed time spent square dancing and their friend’s Supper Club. She was a loving and dedicated caregiver to her husband and her mother. Mrs. Lanter worked for Bogan Supply for 37 years. She was also a member of the Woman’s Club in Thomasville. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends traveling and playing cards. Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Lanter Jones (Dan) of Calvary; grandchildren Robert Clifton Jones (Michelle) of Calvary, Michael Hayes Jones (Denise) of Valdosta, and Carrie Jones Meuninck (Todd) of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren Daniel Jones, Kalen Jones, Lacy Jones, Haleigh Meuninck, Taylor Meuninck, and Garrett Meuninck, her brother, Herbert A. Kitchens, of Huntsville, AL, nieces and nephews; and her close companion and loving cat, Ryder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hayes Lanter; sister Myrtice Kitchens Hamrick of Madison, FL; brother William H. Kitchens of Valdosta; great- grandson Robert Clifton Jones, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas County Humane Society at 180 Big Star Drive, Thomasville, GA 31757.
