Services for Alma Wade Shores, 87 of Thomasville will be held at 2pm on Saturday March 11, 2017 in the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Burt Courtney will officiate and interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Royce Mercer, Dwight Ryland, John Skeen, Michael Strickland, Christopher Willis, and James Willis. Mrs. Shores passed away March 8, 2017 at Camellia Gardens. Born March 2, 1930 in Ochlocknee, she was the daughter of the late Richard Wade and Annie Lizzie Harris James. She was married to Curtis Anderson Shores who survives. She was former owner of Simeon Street Grocery and was also the manager of the shoe department at Woolworth Department Store for many years. Mrs. Shores grew up and was active at Arbordale Church of Christ in Grady County and was a charter member of the former Clay Street Church of Christ in Thomasville. She was currently a member of Fellowship Church of Christ in Thomasville. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Buddy Parrish of Thomasville; grandchildren, Curt Parrish, Jill Parrish Copps and husband Jason, Jamie Shealey and wife Tammy and Jordan Shealey; great-grandson, Wyatt Copps and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Glenda Shores Thursby, parents Richard Wade and Annie Lizzie Harris James, step-father Ed James, and sisters Pearl Wade Willis and Joyce Wade Hyde. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00PM until service time. In lieu of flowers her family asks that donations be made to the Fellowship Church of Christ Building Fund, PO Box 1883, Thomasville, Ga 31799.
