Services for Alonzo (Buddy) Skipper will be held at 3 PM Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Cornerstone Church of Christ in Thomasville, GA. Pastor Jason Bennett will be officiating with private interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Skipper passed away at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, August 8. Buddy was born in Ozark, AL on February 18, 1935 to Comer Skipper and Clarabelle Strickland Skipper. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Maxie Roberts Skipper, brother, Larry Skipper and sister, Janice Haddon. Mr. Skipper had been a resident of Thomasville since 1955 and in 1991, after 30 years of dedicated service, he retired from the city of Thomasville utilities where he was head of the service department. Additionally, after 40 years of service, he retired as an independent contractor for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. His survivors include son, Stephen Gary Skipper and wife, Helen, of Thomasville, daughters, Deborah A. Blankinship and husband, David, of Tallahassee and Teresa L Perkins and husband, Lee, of Cairo, grandsons James Richard (Trey) Herrington lll (Ang) of Hanover, PA, Edwin Blake Herrington (Abbie) of Thomasville, GA and William Tyler Herrington (Jessica) of Clemson,SC, granddaughters Tonya Lynn Skipper and Terri Leigh Skipper (Lionel) of Thomasville, 11 great grandchildren and special neighbor, Vicki Poss. The family will receive visitors after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Thomasville Humane Society
