Alton Stanford Kelly

Alton Stanford Kelly, 81, of Thomasville, Ga passed away on June 21, 2023. A service will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 2 PM in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel with Reverend Paula Lewis officiating. Mr. Kelly was born on November 11, 1941, in Climax, Ga to the late Edison and Madleane Kelly. On April 30, 1982, he married Carolyn Kelly who survives. Alton graduated from Climax High School. He was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 50 years and was known as "Tom-Cat" and was employed with Darryl Sparks, Inc “DSI”. He loved to work hard and stayed very active at home and at his job and always enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and mowing the grass to keep it well-maintained. He loved spending time with his family, his coworkers, and his buddy John Wheeler always lived his life to the fullest, while making others laugh and smile, and always there to lend a helping hand. He also enjoyed basketball with his coworkers. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Kelly; children, Shelby Kelly of Thomasville, Ga, Alton Greg Kelly (Gloria) of Thomasville, Ga, and Candace E. Criswell (Robert) of Thomasville, Ga; stepchildren Joey Holland (Cindy) of Thomasville, Ga, Jeri Barnes (Matt) of Sale City, Ga, and Jamie Holland (James), Jan Darley (Fred); grandchildren, Travis Turk (Kristen) of Coolidge, Ga, Briana Criswell of Thomasville, Ga, Brooke Spillers (Jackson) of Moultrie, Ga, Malone Griffin of Sale City, Ga, Madison Barnes of Camilla, Ga, Victoria Brockway of Mississippi, Logan Holland (Kristen) of South Carolina, Anne-Marie Holland of Thomasville, Ga, Daniel Holland (Courtney) of Thomasville, Taylor Wallace (Cole) of Thomasville, Ga, Doug Gay (Ashley), John Gay, Jason Gay, Joshua Gay (Lindsay); great-grandchildren Hagan Turk, Cohen Turk, Eleanor Griffin, Amelia Zeigler, Maddie Bostick, Elizabeth Brockway, Caden Holland, Lillyanna Brockway, Eva Wallace. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Delma Kelly. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 3-5 PM in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel. Pallbearers will be Alex Sparks, Brad Pilkinton, Everett Cason, Amos Sparks, Dustin Dolan, and Ubaldo Badillo. Honorary pallbearers will be John Wheeler and Darryl Sparks.
