Alyssa Marie Newman passed away on November 27th, 2023, at the age of 23, following medical complications. She was an incredibly passionate person and fought tirelessly to right injustice as she found it. This led her to pursue a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh following the completion of her degree in International Affairs at UGA. She had plans to work as an advocate for victims of human trafficking after she graduated. Outside of school, Alyssa was an amazing artist and photographer. She was truly gifted at finding beauty in everything.
Alyssa was a bright light in this world and wanted all her friends and family to know happiness. Her laugh was contagious, and her smile lit up whatever room she was in. She loved with her whole heart and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her people.
Alyssa is survived by her sister, Nikki, and parents, Cindy and Clay. In death, she has been reunited with her dog (Auggie), her grandparents, her Aunt Josie, and her Uncle Rodney.
The service to celebrate the life of Alyssa will occur at 10 AM on December 9th at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel in Thomasville, GA. Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation that will occur from 5-7 PM on December 8th at the same location as the funeral.
