Anita Joyce Nelson, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, has sadly passed away at the age of 65 on October 28,2024. Anita was born on October 2, 1959 in Cairo to the late J.C. Holton and Joyce Phillips Gawne who still lives.
In her free time, Anita took great joy being in her yard working. She also prided herself about being a crane operator as it is not a common job position for females. Anita loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed by them and all who knew her.
She is survived by her children Grace Roberson (Eric) of Cairo, Brittney Brooks (Lee) of Peshtigo, WI, Peggy Patrick (Matthew) of Chipley, FL, John Johnson (Lynn) of Graceville, FL, and Shane Johnson (Nikki) of Cairo; grandchildren Tommy Perry, Kayle Perry, Conner Collins, Abigale Curles, Chuck Curles, Faith Ann Jarvis, Hunter Smart, Dylan Smart, Stephen Johnson, Michael Johnson, Autumn Johnson, and Bailey Johnson; great-grandchildren Katalina Gancerez, Karmella Gancerez, Hardin Johnson, Hunter Jr. Smart, and Deacon Smart.
She is preceded in death by her father J.C. Holton and her maternal & paternal grandparents.
A service to celebrate the life of Anita Joyce Nelson will be held on Friday, November 1st at 11am at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel
